Our caring team of veterinarians are committed to providing the highest standard of care to all the patients we see throughout each and every day. We are friendly and compassionate and pride ourselves on providing excellence in all aspects of our profession. A diversity of professional backgrounds has enabled the development of a robust, progressive and dynamic team.

  • Bronwyn De Losa (Director)

    Bronwyn opened Hartley Valley Vets in 2015 in the heart of Little Hartley.

    Bronwyn has managed numerous businesses and is also a Finance teacher and a registered RTO. She is the author of an accounting software textbook which is used by teaching colleges across Australia. Bronwyn lives in Locksley with her husband Jamie on a 60 acre property and runs beef cattle, sheep and horses.

  • DR John Alexander - Director/ Veterinary Surgeon

    John has been part of the Hartley team since mid 2016. John has over 40 years experience as a vet, with a significant amount of his career owning and running his own practice in Lawson. After selling his practice, John relocated to Hartley with his wife Heather. We are very lucky to have John in our team, he is a wealth of knowledge!

  • Dr Monique Atkins - Veterinary Surgeon

    Monique joined Hartley Valley Vets in early 2018 as Veterinarian.

    She adores all things tiny, as shown by her collection of small pets with massive personalities! She owns a Chihuahua named Sox that has a passion for nibbling toes and a Connemara pony named Fanta.

    Hailing from Western Sydney, Monique loves country lifestyle – particularly riding her horse before work! She is keen on all things horses and has developed a special interest in small animal behaviour and anaesthetics.

    Monique has done additional training in Equine Dentistry and preformed all our equine dentals using our equine trailer and power float.

  • Dr Emma Tinslay - Veterinary Surgeon

    Emma joined the team in early 2021 after graduating from Sydney Uni. She grew up in Sydney but has spent time working with horses on the NSW south coast and in Camden. Emma likes all aspects of veterinary medicine but particularly enjoys spending time with her canine and equine patients. Outside of work Emma loves spoiling her horse, Comet and baking delicious treats.

  • Dr Nikki Allison BVSc(hons) - Veterinary Surgeon

    Nikki has been a vet for over two decades. She started work in mixed practice in the Hunter Valley, then worked all around the UK, mainly as an equine vet. She moved to the Blue Mountains 15 years ago, fell in love with the area and has been working as a small animal vet in the lithgow and blue mountains regions ever since. She has two Post Graduate certificates from Sydney Uni, in Small Animal Dermatology and Internal Medicine. She adores helping all of her patients achieve their best quality of life.

  • Dr Beth Parsons - Veterinary Surgeon

    Beth joined Hartley Valley Vets in early 2023 as a locum and stayed when she fell in love with our team and the area. Beth worked in mixed practice on the central coast for two years before completing an 18 month speciality rotating internship at North Shore Veterinary Specialist Centre in Sydney. She has locumed around NSW in mixed practice and emergency. Beth enjoys all aspects of being a veterinarian and has special interests in diagnostic imaging, exotics and emergency medicine. Outside of work Beth’s hobbies include quilting, playing the cello, skiing and relaxing with her chatty cat Mittens.

  • Dr Craig Lock - Veterinary Surgeon

    Dr Craig joined Hartley Valley Vets in late 2021. Craig has a keen interest in small animal surgery, equine practice and has a good level of exposure to genuine mixed practice.

    Outside of the clinic Craig enjoys fitness, travel and playing the Banjo. Craig has an offsider (Flenigan) a very lovely, loyal blue cattle dog that spends everyday with him.

  • Dr Cillian Coleman BVSc MANZCVS

    After knowing he wanted to be a vet from the age of 4, Cillian went on to graduate from the University of Sydney and began mixed practice work in the Central West. Since then, he has spent a few years as a locum. He has a keen interest in true mixed practice and a desire to offer as many services for as many species as possible. Since graduating he has completed courses in Equine Dentistry, Point-Of-Care Ultrasound, Small Animal Fracture Repair and in 2023 was admitted as a member of the Australian & New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS) after completing exams in small animal veterinary practice. Coming to Hartley Valley Vets, he hopes to continue to expand his skills further to offer more for his patients and clients in the years to come. When not working, Cillian loves his sport, woodworking, gardening, and bushwalking, but he loves nothing more than spending time with his dog/best friend/travel companion, Oisín – affectionately called ‘Oosh’ by all others.

  • Dr Julia Ranocchia

    Julia is a recent addition to the Hartley team, joining in January 2024 after graduating from the University of Sydney. Julia is Australian, but with an American accent, as she spent most of her childhood in New York. Although she has always been a city girl, she found that she loved doing mixed practice work and is excited to be working with both large and small animals in the Blue Mountains. Outside of work, Julia enjoys baking sweet treats, crafting and reading.

  • Dr Angus Farquhar

    Angus graduated from Sydney University in 1985 and worked in mixed practices in the Upper Blue Mountains initially and then in Queanbeyan and New Zealand before moving back to the vet life in the mountains. He has also worked in Lithgow at The Bowenfels Vet Clinic. These days he is just focusing his vet skills on his passion for surgery. When not operating on creatures he enjoys backcountry skiing with his wife Fiona , climbing and mountain biking. They also run a small outdoor adventure gear manufacturing business, Whippet Mountain Gear. He lives locally in Dargan at Burnt Downs with Fiona, their naughty Saluki “Twiggy” and little Persian cat “Dora”.
